Switch the meter on: inglés para taxistas en apuros

Se acerca el verano y con él las ciudades de España se llenan de turistas que no saben hablar Español. Este post va dirigido a los taxistas que quieran aprender inglés y hacer este verano su agosto. Start your engines!

Es innegable que hoy por hoy, al igual que en el sector de la hostelería, es necesario para un taxista saber inglés. Es este post hemos reunido algunas frases muy útiles especialmente pensadas para vosotros

El primer contacto

Normalmente es en el aeropuerto donde más turistas extranjeros se recogen, así que empezaremos por aquí.

• Do you need a taxi,  Sir/Madam? – ¿Necesita un taxi, señor/señora?

• I am available/I’m free – Estoy disponible

• How many are you? – ¿Cuántas personas son?

• Do you have luggage? – Only this suitcase – Tiene equipaje – solo esta maleta

• I’ll bring it back – La pondré atrás

• I’ll put your luggage in the trunk – Pondré su equipaje en el maletero

• Where are you going to? – ¿A dónde se dirige?

• I’d like to go to the city center/ to the xxx hotel/ to xxx street – Al centro/al hotel xxx/ a la calle xxx

Durante el trayecto

• Is the meter switched on? – ¿Está encendido el taxímetro?

• How much will it cost? – ¿Cuánto costará?

• We have a fixed fare from the airport to the center – Tenemos una tarifa fija del aeropuerto al centro

• It will be approximately xxx Euros – serán aproximadamente xx euros

• Please, take the shortest way – Por favor, tome el camino más corto

• Could we stop at an ATM? – ¿Podríamos parar en un cajero automático?

• I will wait here – Les esperaré aquí

• Are we there yet? – ¿Hemos llegado ya?

• Please, drive slower/faster – Por favor, conduzca más despacio/deprisa

Al acabar

Al acabar el trayecto es el momento de cobrar, por lo que aparte de lon números en inglés deberás saber lo siguiente:

• How much is it? How much do I owe you? – ¿Cuánto es?/ Cuánto le debo?

• Here you are – Aquí tiene

• I don’t have change, have you got anything smaller? – No tengo cambio  ¿Tiene un billete más pequeño?

• That’s fine, keep the change – Quédese el cambio

• The change is not correct – El cambio no está bien

• Can you give me an invoice/receipt? – ¿Puede darme factura/recibo?

• Do you need an invoice/receipt? – ¿Necesita factura/recibo?

• It’s too expensive/quite cheap – Es muy caro/es barato

• I want a complaint form – Quiero una hoja de reclamaciones

Small Talk

Ya hemos hablado en muchas ocasiones de la importancia del small talk para tener buenas relaciones con los clientes. Los taxistas tienen fama de ser conversadores, así que haced honor a la profesión con estas frases:

• What country are you from? – ¿De qué país vienen?

• Thank you for visiting us – Gracias por visitarnos

• I hope you have a nice holiday – Espero que pasen unas buenas vacaciones

• This time of the year is beautiful – Esta época es muy bonita

• We are going to have excellent weather – Vamos a tener un tiempo estupendo

• It seems like traffic is really bad – Parece que el tráfico está fatal

• Is it your first time here? – ¿Es la primera vez que viene?

• I’ll give you my number, in case you need me again– Les dejaré mi número, en caso de que me necesiten de nuevo.
