Much, many y a lot of: ejercicios de quantifiers

Much, many y a lot of conforman el podio de los quantifiers más conocidos y usados en inglés. Ya hemos hablado de ellos en otras ocasiones y, en este post, te traemos ejercicios para que practiques ¡Suerte con ellos!

1.    Corrige y mejora

En los siguientes párrafos coloca much/ many/ a lot of, según corresponda. ¡Cuidado!, en algunos casos tendrás que corregir y en otros podrás mejorar la frase usándolos.

1. Amy’s had many problems with her back for a lot of years. She’s having an operation next week and she won’t be back at work for a good deal of weeks afterwards.

2. “There’s bound to be much people on the queue for the tickets. Perhaps we should leave now.” – “Don’t worry, there’s plenty of time left, and being friday many people must be still working.”

3. Many think that hedgehogs are very rare nowadays, but when I was in Wales I saw many.

4. A lot have claimed that Professor Dowman’s study on current attitudes to politics is flawed. One criticism is that much too many people questioned in the survey were under 18.

5. A lot of research has been conducted on the influence of stress on heart disease. However, a lot remains to be done before it is considered a public health problem.

2.    Expresiones con quantifiers

Ya sabes que en este blog nos gusta enseñarte expresiones en inglés. Éstas te harán hablar inglés como si fuera tu lengua materna. En este ejercicio  te traemos algunas expresiones que usan much / many / a lot of; ¿sabrás cuál usar en cada caso? Para ayudarte un poco, te hemos incluido la traducción.

1. I don’t feel up to ____________ today – No tengo ganas de hacer mucho hoy

2. I’m afraid I’m not _____________ a cook – Me temo que no soy un gran cocinero

3. There are____ times that I’ve wished I could quit my job – HAy muchas veces en las que desearía poder dejar mi trabajo

4. There’s an awful ___________ onion in this dish – Hay una cantidad enorme de cebolla en el plato.

Si no te suenan ninguna de ellas, quizás deberías animarte a ver algunas series en inglés, ¡seguro que ahí las escuchas muchas veces!

Rellena los huecos

En este último ejercicio debes rellenar los huecos que aparecen en el texto con un quantifier adecuado.

There is, remarked George Bernard Shaw, no subject on which more dangerous nonsense is talked than marriage. He was right: 1 ______ paper has been wasted on the subject and   2 _______ newspaper columnist have felt impelled to share with us their thoughts on the subject,  3 _________ which are laughable rubbish. But the question still remains: why do   4 _______ of us still want to get married?
