Interview with Andrea… | Training to pursue your purposes
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”
– Tim Notke –
Hello Andrea, tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a 23 year old girl from Barcelona who loves her hometown. I’m an extremely active person who enjoys taking up different hobbies all the time. Some of my spare time activities are: going to the gym, drawing, cycling and healthy cooking. By the way, the thing I love the most are languages. That’s why I enjoy being a coach at What’s Up! so much.
We have recently found out that you are training hard for a Bikini Fitness competition. What is that?
It’s a physique competition in which the most aesthetic body is awarded. In my category, what judges value the most are a toned body, nice abs and perfect staging.
How did you become interested in bodybuilding?
I truly love this story. I was going through really hard times with my ex-boyfriend so I decided to do something apart from him because I really felt jailed and I was only 18 years old. So I joined my neighborhood’s gym and started to go quite often. Then we finally split up and I got totally immersed in the gym. I felt healthier, my body was starting to look fitter and moreover I met many new people, which I totally needed. And the icing on the cake is that I met my current boyfriend there.
You must be very persevering, self-demanding and hard-working , right? Absolutely. I’m a very stubborn girl with reference to personal aims. I think you have to be like this if you want to achieve your goals in life. Nothing is for free and being a conformist is something that I have nothing to do with.
Our students should possess those skills too to be successful during their course. Can you provide them with tips to achieve their goals when learning English?
The best advice I could give them is to take these 3 things into account before and while they are learning:
- When you have an aim you need to believe in it. If somebody did it, you can do it too. Trust in yourself.
- There will be ups and downs. Treat yourself when you’re doing great and always stand up after falling down. Success is not a straight line but it’s going back and forth all the time. One step back, two forward.
- Never resign yourself. Nobody ever did anything in the comfort zone. Challenge yourself, get risky.
Can you briefly explain us your training routine?
I usually go to the gym twice a day. Once to work out a specific part of the body and a second time to do my cardio (I mostly do my cardio at the beach though). I work out five days a week and then I rest at the weekend.
What do you think your future will look like? Do you want to be involved in more bodybuilding competitions in the future?
I don’t really know. I mean the competition world is a very difficult one. It affects you psychologically, your daily life, all of your relationships, etc. What I might do is rest for some months at least (I’ll go to the gym anyway!). But what I’m sure 100% is that I’ll never give up the healthy lifestyle.
Thank you Andrea! Good luck 😉
